Asked questions

Yes, it is better to look at jobs and go through the cost and process with the customer. Sometimes it can be better to go by an hourly rate and see what can get done in that time and then check with the customer so funds aren’t exceeded or cost is more than expected.

Yes! All of these materials can be carted to your property. We can supply. deliver and spread as required.

In particular, customers with prickles in their yards ask for a top layer of ground to be removed, disposed of and crusher dust carted in and then spread around with a skid spreader

Yes, we can deliver up to 13,000 litres per tank load. Cost is dependant on location and quantity.

The Darley Earthworks Journey

Bruce Darley was a carting contractor for the Shell Fuel agency in 1962 which he owned in Crystal Brook. Other works he was involved in was concreting the Morgan to Whyalla pipeline, carting pipes and saddles, council works and general cartage.

His grandson, Nick followed in his footsteps driving tippers every chance he could, carting materials and grain around the Crystal Brook District.

Time was spent with the SA Highways Department and this is where he gained experience and tickets operating heavy earthworks equipment and gained knowledge of road construction.

Kalgoorlie is where he was given the opportunity to drive triple and quad road trains in the mines.  A unique place in Australia where they give you an Aussie go. The fuel industry was a passion that took Nick throughout Australia.  He travelled to remote outback locations in Western Australia and the Northern Territory when working for Shell, Penns Cartage, Direct Haul and IOR Petroleum.

Nick enjoys the station and outback lifestyle, he would often take off to grade fence lines or to just operate anything with wheels. Carting cattle was also a favourite of his.

It was time to have a go himself and that’s when Darley Earthworks started to form, with bobcat jobs on weekends and days off.

2017 was when a new Toyota skid steer was purchased, the first new item and this piece of equipment is still the heart of the business today.

Darley Earthworks has been very fortunate to be part of the Nexif Energy project at the Lincoln Gap Wind Farm. Green energy projects are the future for the Port Augusta township and local businesses. Nacap was the BoP civil contractor for Senvion Australia and Darley Earthworks had the contract to water the roads that were under construction. Once the roads were constructed dust suppression on the roads and around the work areas was provided with the semi water cart.

Darley Earthwork is all about making sure the customer is 100% happy with the job we have completed.
